Two Stellenbosch students, Hanno Lategan and Jurgens Uys, saw a gap in the market and created the first fun cycling socks in South Africa. Bean’ valuing customers since day one

Versus socks have created quite some brand awareness the past two years. With regularly updated social media pages and various competitions and promotions running, it is quite difficult for consumers to forget this interesting brand. With over 7000 followers on Instagram they have already built a small community for a local Stellenbosch brand. They also have hundreds of customers tagging them in their daily adventures on Instagram while wearing their socks. A nationwide competition was launched on Instagram with the release of their new product ‘the coffee sock.’ Hundreds of customers participated by posting their most outrageous and fun photos while wearing this ‘coffee sock’. Versus socks engage with their customers through interactive marketing strategies. A recent competition by Versus socks had consumers coming up with various new designs and styles for new cycling socks and the best design was incorporated into their new range. Through these competitions, consumers felt more part of the design process and the Versus socks community.

Versus cares

Knysna is known by many for the awesome cycling spots and is close to many cyclist’s hearts. After the devastating fires in Knysna which affected the lives of many, Versus decided to get involved by donating 150 pairs of socks to the Fire Relief cause. Even this small donation made a difference to those who lost everything.
